Attorney Timothy Turkelson of Manley & Manley knows what it takes to fight for his clients.  His unique background in the criminal justice system has given him the experience to provide aggressive representation for his clients.  As a former county prosecutor as well as a federal prosecutor, Attorney Turkelson knows what types of evidence that prosecutors look for to convince juries of guilt.  He uses this knowledge to assist in the defense of his clients.

Attorney Turkelson was born and raised in West Branch, Michigan and attended undergrad at Michigan State University.  He enrolled in law school at Detroit College of Law (now MSU School of Law) where he graduated with honors.

Following his graduation from law school, Attorney Turkelson began his legal career as an assistant prosecuting attorney in 1995 at the Lapeer County Prosecutor’s Office.  He was promoted to the Chief Assistant Prosecutor in 2000.  During his time at the Prosecutor’s Office, he handled cases such as; drunk driving offenses, domestic assaults, sexual assaults, drug trafficking and murder.  He remained in that position until leaving the prosecutor’s office for private practice in 2005 where he practiced in over 35 counties statewide.  

In 2013, Attorney Turkelson returned to the Lapeer County Prosecutor’s Office as the appointed prosecutor by Chief Judge Holowka, then in 2014 he became the elected prosecutor.

Attorney Turkelson joined the United States Attorney’s Office in 2017.  As a federal prosecutor, he worked in both the Bay City and Flint offices.  He also served as the Deputy Chief for both offices while prosecuting numerous types of federal crimes which include: tax evasion, felon in possession of firearms, possession of machine guns, large-scale drug conspiracies and violent crimes.

As a highly skilled attorney, Attorney Turkelson, has extensive trial experience in both state and federal courts.  He has successfully tried many jury trials as both a prosecutor and a defense attorney.  Given his experience, you can rest assure that Attorney Turkelson will take your case seriously and fight for your rights.

In his spare time, Attorney Turkelson, is a volunteer firefighter.  He has spent the last 29 years volunteering with the Lapeer City Fire and Rescue.  Along with his time volunteering on the fire department, he has been teaching Legal and Moral Ethics in Healthcare at U of M Flint for the last two years.  Attorney Turkelson and his wife enjoy traveling and outdoor activities as well as spending time with family.
