Ann Arbor attorney Susan Longsworth joins firm, overseeing new office
ANN ARBOR, Michigan - Michigan criminal defense lawyer Michael P. Manley, the founder of a leading criminal defense law firm in the state, recently opened an office in Ann Arbor, Michigan, which will be run by the firm's newest associate, Ann Arbor defense attorney Susan Longsworth.
"We're excited about opening a second office and welcoming such an accomplished attorney at our law firm," Manley said. "Attorney Longsworth's extensive experience as a former assistant prosecutor in Washtenaw County gives her a unique perspective that few lawyers have in Ann Arbor and other surrounding communities. She's a tremendous asset and we're honored to have her serve as our firm's lead attorney in Ann Arbor."
The decision to open a second office in Ann Arbor was a simple one, Manley explained. "We saw an opportunity to better serve the citizens of Washtenaw County, Livingston County and Oakland County and we leapt at it," he said. "If you have been charged with a crime, it's important to have an attorney you can turn to who will be there for you every step of the way. Our law firm has provided such hands-on attention for more than 26 years based in Flint and Genesee County. Now, we can offer that same, personalized attention to clients in Ann Arbor and other surrounding communities."
"Ann Arbor is a unique place," Attorney Manley said. "It's a complex community with its own particular needs. That's why we're thrilled to have Attorney Longsworth serving as our lead attorney in Ann Arbor. She knows the community well and thoroughly understands how the legal system works here. I can't say enough great things about Attorney Longsworth."
A graduate of Marquette University, Attorney Longsworth earned her law degree at Notre Dame Law School. Among her professional experiences, she worked as the Judicial Attorney for 43rd Circuit Court Judge Susan Dobrich in Cass County, Michigan, then served as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in Washtenaw County for 10 years. While at the Prosecutor's Office, Attorney Longsworth served as Circuit Court Trial Attorney, Lead Domestic Violence Prosecutor, and Warrant Review Attorney. Following her tenure as an assistant prosecutor, Susan practiced criminal law at her own firm, Susan Longsworth PLC, before joining the law offices of Michael P. Manley in 2016.
"I'm thrilled to join forces with Attorney Manley while continuing to serve the legal needs of Ann Arbor and neighboring communities," Attorney Longsworth said. "I have devoted my career to fighting for the rights of people throughout Michigan. I thoroughly understand how the criminal justice system works statewide and particularly in Washtenaw County. I know the protocols that police officers need to follow when investigating cases, and where to look for evidence that can affect the outcome of the case. I take every case very seriously. That's why I'm proud to embark on a professional partnership with Attorney Manley. He's passionate about representing people facing serious legal problems. Together, we can expand our services for more people in Flint, Ann Arbor and beyond."
